My current work involves a direct and intimate relationship with the clay and for the first time in my forty year ceramic career explores both the vessel and glaze.

Whilst drawing inspiration from the contrasting influences of the natural landscape and contemporary architecture, my thinking is shaped by a deep respect of the fundamental principles of Japanese aesthetics. My intention is to make work that is hopefully bold and visually engaging, whilst simultaneously conveying a sense of simplicity and quietness.

As I reflect on our increasingly fast pace of life, I find myself drawn towards making objects that are hopefully  contemplative, emotive and beautiful - even useful.

All work is glazed with a variety of copper and iron bearing glazes, fired to Cone 10 / 11 in an oxidixing atmosphere.
